Sending Email from scripts - 2024 Edition
What is the proper 2024 method of sending/recieving email from a script? How can I do this using an Office 365 email account? I have been using CDO to send emails from my scripts for years similar to the code listed here: https://support.smartbear.com/testcomplete/docs/scripting/sending-email-from-scripts.html. Unfortunately, our test email environment is getting removed so I need a new solution. I think CDO is not the future solution because according to Microsoft, CDO is an outdated technology that is no longer supported. I am also curious how the Builtin.Sendemail function works "under the hood". My gut tells me it probably just uses CDO also. Anyways, I need the proper / modern solution for sending (and receiving emails) from scripts. Our corporate email is Office 365 so preferably a solution that works with that. I am guessing the proper solution is some type of API call? Any suggestions?41Views1like1CommentUsing Github with TestComplete - Good or bad idea?
We have never used a source control but I am considering using Github with TestComplete and would like feedback as to whether this is a good or bad idea for my needs. My current process: We have one MainProjectSuite that is stored on a shared drive All 20+ of our test PC's open MainProjectSuite from the shared drive and run tests from it Each of our 4 coders have their own Individual1ProjectSuite where they make any coding changes. I use WinMerge to compare the coding changes in Individual1ProjectSuite as compared to the MainProjectSuite. If code looks fine, I use WinMerge to copy the updated coded into MainProjectSuite. We don't use namemapping very much so it is not a concern. What are the benefits of using Github as compared to our current process? I am mainly considering it as an easier way to review coding changes and better method to backup our main source code.143Views0likes3CommentsRe: TestExecute Freeze Up
I don't typically run the entire suite of tests using TestComplete. I will run individual tests all day long as I am troubleshooting them or creating new tests. I might try running the whole suite using TestComplete, just to see what happens, but I don't expect something different. And, I might have to do it multiple times before getting the freeze up.574Views0likes1CommentRe: TestExecute Freeze Up
We have 5 different PCs running dozens of tests on this same desktop app each night. Typically, at least 1 of them freezes up overnight but it could be any of them running any test. There is nothing consistent about where it freezes up. I have done the same testing during the day and will also have freeze ups so I don't think it has anything to do with some unknown overnight process.626Views0likes2CommentsTestExecute Freeze Up
I am having an issue with TestExecute freezing up when running testing overnight. It occurs most nights but never in the same spot. The application I am testing is a desktop app built using ReactJS / Electron. Here are the details: When the freeze up occurs, TestExecute stops responding and is stuck. The desktop app itself is not frozen. I can perform normal use of the desktop app and it responds. The PC is not frozen. I checked Task Manager and no apps shows high CPU or memory usage. I have enabled Freeze Diagnostics in TestComplete but that is not kicking in, probably because the app itself does not appear frozen. When I close the desktop app, TestExecute starts responding again. The last action performed before the freeze up was a TAB out of a field on the screen. Here is what the log shows. Note: the vbscript error occurs AFTER I close the desktop app. Any ideas what is going on or suggestions on how to better troubleshoot this? I find it very strange that closing the desktop app "unfreezes" TestExecute. That would lead me to think the desktop app is frozen but that is not the case.671Views0likes9CommentsTestexcute Not Starting overnight - How to verify if license issue
I am trying to troubleshoot an issue occurring on one of our test PCs overnight. TestExecute should be starting up and running our script but it is not. My only guess is that TestExecute failed to get a license when it ran. How could I verify if this is the case? Is there anywhere to see if a license was requested but denied? Notes on our process: We use a Windows Scheduled Task to run a batch file at logon of any user. This batch file starts TestExecute and runs our desired script. I know the batch file works fine. I can manually run it and it starts the script. I can manually run the Schedule Task and that works. I can reboot the PC during the day and it runs the Schedule Task and starts TestExecute For unknown reasons, when this is running overnight, the batch file runs but TestExecute does NOT start. I added custom logging messages to a text file to troubleshoot this issue One log message occurs when the batch file runs. One log message occurs at the first line of the script When this runs overnight, I know the batch file ran successfully but the log message for TestExecute does not appear which indicates it never started. So why is TestExecute not starting over night? Any tips on how to troubleshoot this if it is not a license issue?Solved268Views0likes2CommentsRe: Based on different resolution it is clicking on different item
It sounds like the ClickItem issue that was recently fixed. https://community.smartbear.com/t5/TestComplete-Questions/Multiple-Issues-with-TestComplete-15-51-4-7/m-p/24931910 months agoPlace TestComplete QuestionsTestComplete Questions241Views0likes0Comments
