Team use of TestComplete & TestExecute
I'm looking at a team strategy for using automated tests for when we work on bugs/defects. The proposal is that the QA person would create a keyword test that replicates the error. Then the dev would playback the test and see replication steps and the error. After resolving the bug, the dev would be able to self-test by playing back the test again and seeing that the error does not occur. How do we make this happen? I am thinking the QA uses TestComplete to create the test in a Shared Mode project that exists on a shared network location. Then the dev uses TestExecute to replay the tests as needed. Has anybody here used TestComplete this way and did it work well for you? Since the dev would only be replaying tests and not writing them, would they have any need for TestComplete, or would TestExecute be sufficient? All criticism and suggestions are welcome.432Views0likes2CommentsText recognition / OCR fails in pipeline
In a keyword test, I need to click an object that isn't natively recognized by Test Complete. I have used text recognition and ocr and both methods work locally, but when I push the test to an Azure pipeline and run it from the pipeline the text isn't recognized. Has anybody run into this. I can't figure out why the test works locally but fails in my pipeline.629Views1like3CommentsRe: Test Execution Summary - Send via E-mail not working
Thanks for the reply. That's a good suggestion. I did end up finding a resolution. I had to switch to using the 32-bit version of TestComplete to match the 32-bit email client I am using. Just wanted to post here in case anybody else is having the same issue. This can be marked as Resolved.434Views1like0CommentsTest Execution Summary - Send via E-mail not working
When I click the 'Send via E-Mail' button on the Test Execution Summary page, I get this 'Send Log via E-Mail' message: I click OK on the message and then nothing happens. What should I expect to see next and how should I troubleshoot? Thank youSolved459Views0likes2CommentsCan tests be run across both web apps and desktop?
My company bought the Desktop license only. I would like to be able to run tests that span both desktop and web apps. We have many desktop and web apps that are integrated. A current manual lifecycle test we run consists of entering data into a desktop app, then checking that the data was transferred to one of our web apps. Then performing steps in the web app and making sure those changes are seen in another desktop app. This goes on across multiple apps. Does this sound like something that could be automated if we had both the web and desktop license for TestComplete?Solved470Views0likes1Comment
