From my machine can I use someone elses test host to kick of a run on their machine?

I am very new to automation and to Test Complete so I'm sure this is a basic question.   I need to know if it is possible to kick off a test run from my machine so that it runs on a VM or on someone elses machine if I use their test host instead of my test host. ?
