Flex 4.5 skin issue?

I was wondering if anyone out there has run into an issue like the one we're running into...
- Using TestComplete Enterprise to run tests on a Flex web application (Flex 4.5, IE 9, Win 7 platform)
- For some components that use skins, it doesn't seem possible to access properties related to the skin
(ex. s:RichEditableText object with a custom skin that defines the color of the text. The "color" property isn't accessible even though it is clearly defined in the skin and works correctly in the application).
Anyone have any idea why some of these properties aren't accessible/visible?
