Install:Connection error with LoadNinja backend: Error: self signed certificate in certificate chain

Has anyone come across this during your installation?

"Unable to establish WSS connection with LoadNinja's backend: 'Connnection error with LoadNinja backend: Error: self signed certificate in certificate chain'"

  • From that message, it looks like your network has a transparent proxy (https://www.expressvpn.com/blog/transparent-proxy/). This exception is transparently deployed on their systems.

This proxy has a self-signed certificates that isnt as secure. The endpoint cannot know the operating system’s proxy config by itself, and is hence throwing an error stating we cannot connect. A simple way to fix this is as follows –

    [Recommended]  Whitelist recorder IPs

We share the IPs of the recorders in different regions in the Dedicated IP  tab of the settings (https://support.smartbear.com/loadninja/docs/configure/index.html#dedicated-ip). You can whitelist the IPs of the regions of your choosing in your internal firewall, so you never have to go through the endpoint for recording and load testing

    Using the endpoint
    - Ask from the network admin your system’s transparent proxy config (proxy host, port and any username/pw required)
    - Check the box – My network required proxy to connect to internet
    - Enter the appropriate info, and try connecting
