Run Time Test Data for TestScript

I am using TestComplete to automate the desktop application. i have done recording. Issue is test script hold the value as hard coded. but i want to pass the values in run time. how can i do it?

Hey yaseenmd  , how's going? What do you mean with "i want to pass the values in run time"? If you meant passing the values during the execution of your tests, this would be the way to do this:

 

function Test()
{
  var yourInput = BuiltIn.InputBox("Input box", "Input your text:", "");
  //do whatever you want with yourInput...   
}

    Hi,

     

    Thanks for the suggestion. 

     

    i am storing data externally form the project. i am using DDT.cssdriver in keyword script. when i try to pass "IPaddress" format data as a value. it doesn't take full data. 

    Eg: 10.100.2.100 is the data i want to pass as a value, but while running the script it writes 10.1002 as text field. 

     

    Any help on this?

      First of all check that you send exactly the same value, that you've got from your external file (send it to the Log and check).

       

      If the value is correct, try to increase the Key pressing delay setting in your Project -> Properties -> Playback -> Runtime section:

      From what I know of it, this is down to the driver that DDT uses, and/or Excel and how interprets each column of data. (I think it's treating your stored IP's as numerics?)

       

      I don't use the DDT driver myself. I use Excel as a COM object (it's a little more work to run, but more flexible in operation once it's set up) so tend not to hit problems with data formats as I can control things a little more directly.

       

      I'm sure someone who knows it will appear with the answer sooner rather than later. :manhappy:

      This looks like a classic case of a string being read as a numeric value. If you don't have the value stored in the CSV explicitly with double quotes (") around it, the CSV driver will attempt to read it as what appears to match the best.
