recommended upgrade process for SoapUI

I have the Community edition of SoapUI 5.5.0 installed on my Windows 10 PC.

If I wish to install the latest version (I believe this is 5.7.1 currently), should I first uninstall the older version?

  • No need to uninstall earlier versions.

Each version of the software gets installed in different directory.

So, one can have different versions of the software on the same machine.

Only thing one must keep in mind is that once the project is opened and saved in the latest version, and then opening in lower version may or may not guaranteed to work.

What about if we want to force the installation to upgrade the existing version(s)?  We are trying to upgrade old versions in our environment using our deployment tools, and whenever we push out a new version, it's simply adding the new version and not upgrading the existing instances.  Is there a command-line switch we can add to the installation that will force it to upgrade?

It's not always strictly necessary to uninstall the older version, you can continue with that.
