Any and all performance enhancements - but especially this one - would be very welcome. New To Branching - Documents on SmartBear Support Very Confusing Hello All, So our team is new to GIT Branching, and the documentation provided by SmartBear is very, very, very - confusing. This is what I've deduced: 1 - Open TestComplete. 2 – Using ‘Source Control’ – Clone the desired Repository. 3 – Using ‘Source Control’ - Create a ‘Local Branch’ - (Which is stored on the user’s PC). 4 – Using ‘Source Control’ - Checkout the ‘Local Branch’. The one checked out will be highlighted in bold. 5 - Make all desired changes. 6 – Using ‘Source Control’ - Commit the changes to the ‘Local Branch’ - (Can commit to your ‘Local Branch’ multiple times until finished making changes). 7 – Using ‘Source Control’ - Merge your changes with the ‘Local Master’ – (Can also merge multiple times to your ‘Local Master’). 8 – When done making all changes - Using ‘Source Control’ - Delete the Local Branch which was created to avoid confusion later. 9 - Using ‘Source Control’ - ???Push/Merge?? your changes to the Remote Master of the Repository. 10 – Delete the Cloned Repository. You’ll want to Clone a new copy later so you not only have your changes but also everyone else’s. So is this correct? And what is the 'right' way to get my changes back to the Remote Master (Step 9)? SolvedSmartBear Connect 2022 Anyone heard if there will be a SmartBear Connect in 2022? Either onsite in Boston (please onsite) or online? Re: Extracting A Section of Text From a String Gang - Marsha_R was able to provide a solution to my original question about extracting specific text from a string. Thank you very much - this will be handy. But my follow up 'million dollar' question - as to how to take that text (in my case an Order Number) and then insert that number into a Custom SQL query - can not be done with our current functionality. So - I've put in a Feature Request. Maybe some day, my friends. Maybe some day. Re: Keyword Solution Request - Add the ability to Parameterize a Custom Database Table Checkpoint. Sorry - Released my images aren't that clear: Capture: Plug:(WBORDN = Order Number) Keyword Solution Request - Add the ability to Parameterize a Custom Database Table Checkpoint. It would be very valuable to to be able to parameterize a Custom Database Table Checkpoint as a Keyword function. Example - We used a 'Set Variable Value' to extract a customer's Order Number from our confirmation page. We would like to plug that Order Number into a Custom Database Table Checkpoint to verify one of our order history tables is written out to correctly. So - Capture: Then Plug: (WBORDN = Order Number) Back in my 'HP QuickTest' days, I remember that being a simple right click and select feature. That feature does not exist here. We would use such an ability a lot. Re: Extracting A Section of Text From a String Excellent!! That worked. Now - The million dollar question - How do I take that Order #, and plug it into a Data Base Query? We have many test cases that would find value in such a thing. Example, when a customer located in a specific ZIP code places an order, they should be serviced by the closest distribution center. So say customer in ZIP '60085' should be serviced by 'I6' - So - How do we plug the Order Number into the Custom Query (where WBORDN = 52846802)? Or is there another option available that will get us to the same place? Re: Extracting A Section of Text From a String Well - using the Video I mentioned, I'm able to get the full object text and write it out to the Log (i.e. ORDER # 52846772), but for the life of me when I try to do the 'aqString.Remove' option you suggest - I can't find it. Guessing it is buried somewhere in all of the options - or I'm just blind. Where is it located? Could you provide a screenshot, please? Re: Extracting A Section of Text From a String Done - Thanks! Extracting A Section of Text From a String Looking for a Keyword Test Solution: Our website displays the customer's Order Number as part of a string - i.e. "Order # 52846700" I've watched the 'How To Get a Value From on Screen and Store it for Later Use' video - and that would be fine if the order number was displayed in the field by itself - it is not. Is there a way to extract just the Order Number - Either from the screen into the Variable, or from the Variable itself? Solved
