Testing for ios apps

Hi All,

We are trying to evaluate mobile module of testcomplete for an ios native app. We found out that we are not able to go beyond running test app feature.

Can we use mobile module for ios device on win-7 system or we need a mac for this?

Please let us know any other pre-requisites required for it

    Hi Deeksha,

You need Mac to create your mobile application. Then you need Windows box with either iOS emulator or physical device connected. TestComplete must be running on the Windows box (as it is Windows application and can run on Windows platform only) while your mobile application must be running on either emulator or physical device.

I would recommend you to go through this help section: http://support.smartbear.com/viewarticle/63722/

BTW, the more relevant forum is this: http://smartbear.com/forums/f80/Mobile-Applications-Testing

I did not work too much with iOS applications, so just a general ideas:

-- Can your application be installed and started on the device?

-- Is your tested application prepared as per requirements in TC help (http://support.smartbear.com/viewarticle/63813/)?

-- Is your device visible in the combo-box that is on top of the TC's Mobile Screen window (i.e. can TC recognize your device as connected and accessible)?

-- Does your iPod have supported OS installed (http://support.smartbear.com/viewarticle/63785/)?
  • Hi Alex,

Thank for all your support. Answer to all your three questions is yes, but still something is missing blcoking us to decide if my app can be automated using testcomplete mobile module.

    Hi Deeksha,

What iOS version is installed and what device are you using?

Pay attention to the facts that TestComplete tests iOS apps only if they were signed with the development provisioning profile and the TestComplete Agent Library was added to your project. More info...

If none of these helps, please contact our TestComplete Support team to investigate this in detail.
