TestComplete reports 'Object RowCount not found' error

Hi,


 

We are using TestComplete to automate a web application.


 In one of our script we are fetching the ‘RowCount’ of a table object which is been used to achieve the testing of Pagination functionality. There was no issue when we executed this script on machine1. But on the machine2 we found that TestComplete reports the error ‘Object RowCount not found’.


The configuration information on both the machines is as below.


 

Machine 1:


TestComplete Version : 7.20


Internet browser Version: 7.0.5730.13


My OS version: Windows XP Professional


Version 5.1 (Build 2600: Service Pack 3)


 

Machine 2:


TestComplete Version : 7.50


Internet browser Version: 7.0.5730.13


My OS version: Windows XP Professional


Version 5.1 (Build 2600.xpsp_sp3_grd.090206-1234 : Service Pack 3)


Is this issue is because of change in the TestComplete version? Or any other settings need to be done so that the TestComplete will find the RowCount of the table. ?

    Hi,



    Are you using the same exact project on both machines? Which web tree model is active on machine 1 and on machine 2?

    Yes. we are using the same exact project on both the machines. And the web tree model is set as 'Hybrid' in both the machines.

    Hi,



    OK, how do you obtain your table? Do you obtain it from the DOM branch in the Hybrid model tree (page.document.all...) or via the Tree branch (page.ObjectType("ID")...)?

    If you use the DOM branch, try using the Tree branch.

    We obtain the table object via Tree branch in the Hybrid model tree. We do not use the name mapping and to get the objects we use NativeWebObject.Find method as below.

    Ex: Set objGrid = Page.NativeWebObject.Find("id","table_name","TABLE")

    The issue is also faced with the ChildCount property of the object, which is also an extended property. What could be the reason for this? I also uninstalled the IE7 and reinstalled. Even it didnot work.

    With what exact object do you face this problem? Is it shown in the object tree or is it obtained via some properties of another object?

    Yes it is shown in the object tree on both the machines.



    When we try to access the extended properties of a TableObject  [ where the TableObject is , Set TableObject = page.NativeWebObject.Find("HTMLProperty",HTMLPropertyValue,"HTML tag name")] on webpage, we get the error ‘Object RowCount not found’ on machine2.



    Where, for below example-   

                     <TABLE> id = "datagrid" </TABLE>



                    HTMLProperty           = id (unique properties)

                    HTMLPropertyValue  = Value of the choosen unique property - "datagrid"

                    HTML tag name         =  TABLE 



    The 'Extended property' for the table object the 'row count' property is not available for machine2 and is available for machine1

    Hi,



    I recommend that you check (for example, on a breakpoint) what object is returned by the Find method - check its FullName and Exists property values.

    Hi,



    Find method returns the required object  (verified using objectReturned.Exists = True, and their full name are also same) in both the machines but the properties available are different.



    In one machine we have the "Extended" properties (ChildCount/RowCount etc) and in other machine for the same object, these properties are not available and script is failing with the error message "Could not find object ChildCount/"Could not find object RowCount".



    Note: Please refer the screen shot in the attachment for the details of the properties available for any object captured using "Find" method.



    Please let us know the reason behind this inconsistency.

    Hi,



    As far as I understand, this image is from the machine where everything works correctly, right? If so, what do you see on the problematic machine - can you post here a similar image from it?
