Send Test Results to Azure DevOps W/O pipeline setup?

Hello all,   Is it possible to link TestComplete Test Cases to Azure DevOps without the Test Adapter and pipeline integration?  In other words, I want to run the tests from TestComplete or TestEx...

    After having an additional discussion with product it would appear that in order to see the results displayed in Azure. In your case since you are unable to use the pipeline then to get the results in Azure you would have to run manually, from the Test Plan hub of your team project.

     

    Apologies on the misunderstanding.

My goodness!  I think I figured it out!   The answer was here all the time...  https://support.smartbear.com/testcomplete/docs/working-with/integration/azure/test-adapter/link-to-test-cases.html  I was trying to click the elipsis in the 'Link to external test case' column of the Execution Plan and setup the connection from there.  It works MUCH better if you go to Tools, Current Project Properties, Azure DevOps and setup the connection from there.   

 

I have not yet figured out how to run a test case from TestComplete and see the results in  AzureDevops with out using the Test Plan in Azure with the Test Adapter.  Is this the only way?

Hi scot1967 - 

 

Glad it was easier from there - the way to see the results in Azure would be to set up the links in the execution plan once you have established the working connection to Azure. Then you will have to execute from the execution plan to see the results attached to the test cases in Azure. 

 

Its also possible to see a summary file when running from Azure pipelines but this is not tied to specific test cases in Azure.

    ebarbera "Then you will have to execute from the execution plan to see the results attached to the test cases in Azure. "  So I can run the project tests via the TestComplete Execution Plan and the results will be available in Azure?  Where can the results be seen?

    ebarbera The steps in the link you attached specify setting up a release and a build pipeline and using a test adapter and then running the tests from within the Azure DevOps test plan or as part of a build.  I was trying to avoid this because we have a problem with deploying releases to agents currently.

    Hi scot1967 - 


    Apologies I did not make myself clear here - this is the only spot in our documentation i could find that shows where the results would be shown within Azure. 

     

    This will be the view even if the tests are kicked off right from test complete using the execution plan as long as there is a link to the Azure test case. 

    Does this make sense?

    ebarbera   No problem I understood, it makes sense.  It does not answer the question in the subject of the post.  Can the TestComplete run results be posted into Azure without configuring the test pipeline?  Sorry, I still do not understand if this can be done or not.

    Yes. There is no requirement to configure a pipeline.

    .... It may be that the build pipeline must be configured.  That is the way it looks.  If that is the case is it possible to manually update the build on the agent for each run?  We currently have a deployment problem that has not been resolved.

    ebarbera I have linked the test cases and run them via the Execution Plan in TestComplete.  The test results are not displayed in Azure however.
