Hi,
You can find the detailed documentation on how it can be used by and much more in below,
From TestComplete support document
You can find detailed information about TestComplete SDK in the SDK help file that you can find in the <TestComplete>\Help folder after installing the SDK package:
<TestComplete>\Help\TestComplete12SDK.chm

Not entirely sure that's what Manfred_F was looking for. :)
I, personally, don't have a heavy development background so I haven't used the SDK myself at all. I know that there are those who do (in fact, there's a whole community for it at https://community.smartbear.com/t5/TestComplete-Plugin-Development/bd-p/TestComplete_Extensions). The HISUtils plugin that is shipped with TestComplete these days was actually developed by an end user by the name of Eric Holten WAAAAAAAAAY back in version 1.5 of TestComplete using that self-same SDK. The Jenkins plugin that is used is also third-party developed if I understand properly.
There are probably things that can be done with the SDK that can't be done with Script extensions. For example, some of the challenges that I'm running into in developing my OgreODT replacement probably are child's play for a trained developer using the SDK. I'm looking at exploring it in my rather limited spare time (being a cancer caregiver, while it has its rewards, does take a lot of time). In the meantime, I'd suggest exploring that plugin community and see what you find over there.
