How to use a recorded web test on 2 websites

Hi,

The webapplication I want to test passes through a kind of OTAP environment. I am able to record the tests in the A environment (website: www.exampleA.com) and run the test succesfull. So far, so good.

Additionally, I would also like to run these tests in the T environment (for example website www.exampleT.com). Unfortunately, this fails.

Ambiguous recognition of the tested object.
The object does not exist. See Additional Information for details.
The test execution was interrupted. ...

Even though the application is the same on both websites, TestComplete does not recognise the objects when running the test on the 'other' website. From reading through support pages I assume I need to do something with object mapping/naming, but I am missing the details. Can someone please help?

Many thanks,

A. Vliegen

  • Hi A_Vliegen,

The short video below may help you here.

Prepping tests for a dynamic URL environment: http://screencast.com/t/fi8Ixg13

Hopefully this helps, let us know if it doesn't!

    Thanks,

    Dan

Check the identification properties of your alias and see if they're using a full URL for any of them, if so you might to use wildcards.
