How to access objects in a remote environment

Hi,

I am trying to access objects in a remote environment.

I tried accessing:

- A VMware server image. Result: Can't send Key presses to the window.

- A remote computer with Remote Desktop. Result: I can't access the objects in the window, the only object available is the window itself.

Is it possible to access the objects of a remote computer? If yes, what tool should be used?

Thanks in advance.

Benoit

  • Hi Benoit,

Objects that you see within a remote desktop window and a virtual machine console are part of the remote computer's screen image. TestComplete does not see anything but this image which is useless for it.

You need to install TestComplete on the remote computer and run it there in order to make it access objects of applications running on this computer.
  • Hi David,

    Thanks for the reply!

I am using Remote Desktop to test the interaction of two apps. I fear that if I use Test Complete on both computers, I will have a hard time with synchronizing the two Test Complete. Do you have any suggestions?
