TestComplete license on virtual machines

Hello,

I know I must use a VM-enabled floating license to run TestComplete on a VM.

My question is 'why' must it be a floating license and not a lock-node license.

I've read the SmartBear documentation but it doesn't say why (or maybe I didn't understand it).

Kind regards,

Kim

  • Because node-locked licenses are tied to hardware and, with a VM, the hardware "floats".  It's not always guarenteed to be the same MAC address, etc.

You CAN use a Node-Locked but you'll have to work with smartbear support directly to get it set up but it's not recommended.
