I updated to a new version of test complete - the update failed, but the app opened and worked. The next day when I opened the app the Step Definitions were not being recognized.
I uninstalled the new build and reinstalled the prior one. Now my Step Definitions that are already defined (for 70% of test cases have run and passed) - are still not being recognized. Is there a quick fix to this?
updated to v 14.73.382 went back to 14.72.485
Hi,
I would create Support ticket via the https://support.smartbear.com/testcomplete/message/ form.
I already did that, but can't wait a day or two till they get back with me. I'm working on a government contract that has strict deadlines. Was almost done with testing and now can't do anything and I do not want to nor have time to start over.
But thanks for the suggestion.
And you don't have Projects backup ?
If you have backup, just use one backup to restore step definition because they are stored in project files.
And then complete with the new/missing ones.
If you don't have backup, this is not professional, perhaps by tweaking manually the projects files it could be restored.

Can you post a screenshot that demonstrates the problem?
attaching screen prints.
first one - the test script - 3 steps - Generate Step Definitions is enabled
In StepDefinitions :
Step 1, 2, and 3 are already defined in the StepDeifinitions.
Final pic - I have already successfully run the test

Unfortunately this occurred Friday - after a week's worth of work. I always update my repository on Friday afternoon. The worst part is I know better and should be pushing to repo every night. I can't afford to lose the work.

So... Is the problem solved/disappeared?
If not, can you provide screenshot(s) that demonstrate the problem?
No the problem is not solved. I was showing that the test ran once - in 11/2020.
The test case shows Step Definitions enabled - and is trying to make me generate the steps again. I have already created the steps once. It's like it doesn't see the content of StepDefiinitions.
Sorry but i dont't know how to help you.
But this is very very strange. If this is a bug, this is a critic one.
No other explanation possible ?
If i understand well, you lose one full week of work ?
I'm sorry for you.
