Object spy can't point to object

hi 

 when I try to capture object property by pointing at object , it doesn't point to exact location . The location it shows object about 1 inch left of actual object location on page. It does show correct property etc , but when I play back the script it refuses to recognizing object and it fails.



i talk to developer And as per him it's because he has to resize the page based on image rendered. The application has 5 input parameter and will display image based on that ( you could think of Google finance graphs where user selects few parameters and graph will be rendered. )



is is there anyway to take care of such problem where object location will be slightly off from original page based on contents of page

    Just heads up

    I upgraded to version 12.10 and Chrome zoom was affected.

    I had to set it back to 100% in order for the script to run....

    What versions of Chrome and TestComplete?



    I've noticed in the past than sometimes when Chrome updates, and TestComplete requires a patch for it, it will behave like this until TestComplete is patched up to date ...

    I am using latest 10.50.**** Test Complete and Chrome 39...



    Its little frustrating that Test Complete cant keep up with these versions....especially Chrome is well accepted and widely used as standard browser....



    I tried to downgrade Chrome , by downloading old version...but couldnt stop it from Auto upgrading to latest one...







    To

    any SLA on when this new version will be supported ?

    Hi Manish



    You should always ensure that the zoom is set at 100%.  Also, avoid using coordinates when locating the control.

    Page Zoom size is Set to 100% in Chrome.. Btw I forgot to mentioned I am using Chrome for this .

    I agreed something to do with crome. I update the test and ran it in Firefox and works perfectly fine. When you say patch , does that mean latest version of test complete or some special patch I have to apply? 



    Btw thanka for hint... I wasted lot of time on this

    Which versions of Chrome and TestComplete?



    Certain versions of TestComplete will only support up to certain version numbers of Chrome. Sometimes you can patch, but if you're too far out of date you may need to update TestComplete to a newer version.



    Trying to downgrade the version of Chrome is a real pain as they don't make installers for older versions available and it is VERY good at auto-updating itself, no matter how hard you try and stop it.



    I find it's a good idea to keep hold of a copy of the offline installer for Chrome once you have a version that is fully functional with your version of TestComplete ...

    Thank for reply...Web Plugin is enabled.....automation works firefox browser works  very well.



    when I point object spy to object in Chrome , its not exactly locating the object. Spy finds objects somewhere around , like 1 off of object location. 



    It reads object property , but when I play back it refuse to identify object. I believe because it never pointed to exact location of object it not working. 



    Look the screenshot attached on previous post. the checkbox is located off of the actual location....notice the red square that identifies object

    Hi Manish,


     


    Our R&D team found out that the Windows DPI settings can affect this behavior. Please set it to 100%, as well as the zoom of the browser.


     


    Here are the steps to do this on Windows 7:


    * Click the Windows logo "Start" button.


    * Select "Control Panel".


    * In the Control Panel, select "Appearance and Personalization".


    * Select "Display".


    * Choose the "Smaller - 100% (default)" item and click Apply.
