Getting an error: OLE error 800A03EC when trying to Generate Data using Excel file

Hi,

 

Please assist. I been following the menu Test | Generate Data. On the Data Generator Wizard, I choose the Microsoft Excel worksheet radio button, and browse to an empty Excel file that I created in my C:. I then click Next and on the next screen I insert a few columns by using the Insert button.

 

When I click Finish at the bottom, an error pop up, the error message is: An error has occurred: OLE error 800Ao3EC. I attached a screen shot as well.

 

Addidtional INFO:

TestComplete Version: 12.20.1005.7

Windows 7

Microsoft Office 2007

    Hi Gamasiph,

     

    Is your Excel file in the C:\ drive root, as in C:\Book.xls? Writing to the drive root requires elevated permissions. You need to run TestComplete as Administrator for it to be able to write to the drive root.

     

    Alternatively, create the Excel file inside some folder, such as C:\Tests\ or the project folder - the issue won't occur in this case.
