Actions in .NET app not recorded

I’m new to TestComplete (12.41). I’m trying to record the following steps on a .NET 4.5 desktop app:
Open desktop app by double-clicking the icon on the desktop

Nothing gets recorded or it's recording coordinates instead of object names? Showing us a screenshot of the recorded test steps would help.
And to jump ahead a little, you'll want to use the "Tested Apps" feature rather than double clicking the icon. If the icon ever moves or you run your test on another machine, it will break.

I followed the steps in my original post. Nothing gets recorded except for the opening of the application.
