OAS 3.0.1 Basic Authentication using NODEJS

Hi , I have implemented basic authentication on my OAS 3.0.1 API it works and forces a username and password base64encoded in the header all good. How on earth do I check the password and username in code ? I am stumped and have scoured the  internet for the answer, please help and thank you in advance.
