Re: Error message "The column path must start with a row path expression"

@AboveAndBeyond,

I've managed to get the cbe_number and denominations values with the following settings:

ReadyAPI_2019-02-28_12-35-34.png

Does it suit you?

The expression in the Row Path field is the beginning of the full expression. It's common for properties.

The expression in the Column Paths is the end of the expression.

So, the full expressions will look like:

$['cbe_number'] - for the cbe_number property

and

$['denominations'][0]['value'] - for the denomination property

Re: Error message "The column path must start with a row path expression"

@Nastya_Khovrina

Thanks a lot! It works as a sharm  🙂

But one more question please:

"

The expression in the Row Path field is the beginning of the full expression. It's common for properties.

The expression in the Column Paths is the end of the expression."

what do you mean with " of the expression" please?  Is this the beginning of the json file? the begin node?

"The Column Path is the end of expression" of the node from where it's reading? I'm a noob in json  😞

Thanks in advance

Kind Regards,

AboveAndBeyond.

Re: Error message "The column path must start with a row path expression"

I'm glad to hear that the provided solution helped!

By the expression, I meant the JSONPath expression, you can read more about it here: https://goessner.net/articles/JsonPath/

In ReadyAPI, the full JSONPath expression is evaluated as:

Row Path + Column Path

BTW, there are some online validators:

http://jsonpath.com/

https://jsonpath.curiousconcept.com/

Also, there is an example in our documentation which shows how you can work with the JSON DataSource:

https://support.smartbear.com/readyapi/docs/testing/data-driven/types/json.html

I hope this helps.
