Re: Collaborator Release Notifications

Welcome to Collaborator v12.0!

Collaborator 12.0 is the latest release from SmartBear Software’s dev collaboration team. This new version introduces support for Atlassian Crowd SSO and OpenJDK.  Additionally, code owners from GitHub and GitLab can be automatically added to Collaborator reviews.

Atlassian Crowd Single Sign-On

Collaborator continues to build on its SSO support to make authentication easier for end users and improve security for organizations.  With 12.0, Collaborator now offers native support for Atlassian Crowd.

Crowd SSO

Code owners for GitLab and GitHub

Both GitLab and GitHub have the ability for users to define a CODEOWNERS file within the repository. Collaborator can now look at that file and automatically assign review participants to a review, based on the code owners defined.  This improvement helps ensure that the appropriate individuals know what files are being changed and can signoff via a peer review.

OpenJDK

With Collaborator 12.0, organizations can now utilize OpenJDK, the premier free and open source Java implementation.  This change provides administrators greater flexibility when installing Collaborator, as they are no longer dependent on Oracle’s implementation.

Additional Notes:

  • The Collaborator 12.0 Server requires Collaborator 12.0 Clients.
  • Collaborator versions prior to 11.5.11502 would, in some scenarios, allow users to access Collaborator without consuming a floating license. The latest versions of Collaborator have addressed this.  License Information

Re: Collaborator Release Notifications

Welcome to Collaborator v12.2!

Collaborator 12.2 is the latest release from SmartBear Software’s dev collaboration team. This new version introduces the ability to synchronize GitLab groups, improved user account mapping and support for Visual Studio 2019.

GitLab Group Sync

Collaborator now offers enhanced security for reviews created by GitLab Merge Requests.  When GitLab group sync is enabled, GitLab groups are created in Collaborator and automatically associated to the review.  This ensures that only repository group members have access to the Collaborator review and the files associated with the review.

Group Sync

Additional Notes:

  • Collaborator’s Bitbucket integration will no longer support Mercurial starting on June 1, 2020
  • Discontinued support for Collaborator’s legacy JIRA integration. Existing configurations will remain functional.

Re: Collaborator Release Notifications

Welcome to Collaborator v12.3!

Collaborator 12.3 is the latest release from SmartBear Software’s dev collaboration team. This new version introduces an integration with Microsoft’s Azure DevOps and support for Rich Text and Markdown comments.

Azure DevOps

Collaborator continues to build on its support for repository hosting services (GitLab, Bitbucket, GitHub), whether in the cloud or self-hosted.  Now users of Azure Repos can integrate Collaborator peer reviews with their pull request workflow in Azure DevOps.  This new capability makes it easy to extend the peer review process and ensure that the correct people are reviewing pull requests as well as capturing data and metrics for audits and regulatory compliance.

Azure DevOps

Rich Text / Markdown

With Collaborator 12.3, review participants can now add comments via a rich text and markdown editor.  This allows users to format text in a way that explicitly shows the author of the review what changes need to me made and the formatting for such changes.

Rich Text

Additional Notes:

  • With the release of Collaborator 12.3, we will no longer be able to support customers running Microsoft SQL Server 2008 or MySQL 4.1, 5.0, 5.1, 5.4, 5.5. Please upgrade your database to a newer supported version when upgrading Collaborator.

Collaborator 12.4 is the latest release from SmartBear Software’s dev collaboration team. This new version adds Azure DevOps work item support!  If you missed it, Collaborator 12.3 introduced an integration with Microsoft’s Azure DevOps and added support for Rich Text and Markdown comments.

Azure DevOps

If a pull request is associated with a work item on Azure DevOps side, the link to work item will be added to the review's Remote System Links section. Moreover, if the integration's Auto close related work items option is enabled, the respective work item will be automatically closed when pull request is merged.

We’ve added more granular permissions to ensure that general information for review checklists and review participants can only be modified by specific roles within the review.
