How to edit default custom field defect type?

Hi

We have an Collaborator v13.0.13002 setup and have requirement to add new value in default custom field defect type.

On checking with Collaborator documentation we have below observation at our end:

a. Using Collaborator dashboard, we cannot edit default custom field 'Defect Type' to add an new value but we can create an new custom field like Severity and Type.

b. Using Collaborator command line, we can add new value in default custom field 'Defect Type' but there is associated warning that 'admin config custom-field edit command overwrites all existing data' which poses an risk on all existing review data at our end.

Documentation URL: https://support.smartbear.com/collaborator/docs/reference/command-line/ccollab-admin-config-custom-field-edit.html?sbsearch=Defect%20Custom%20Fields%20Edit

Please can you suggest on how to move forward with adding new value in default custom field 'Defect Type'.

Default custom field defect type snapshot attached for your reference(Custom_Field_Defect_Type_Values.PNG).

Thanks

  • Hello,

I believe the easiest way to edit default custom field defect types is through the Web UI. Go to the Admin Panel > Custom Fields (under Review Templates) > Defect Custom Fields tab > CUSTOM FIELD: Type section. Then enter in your new types in the Selectable Items section and click SAVE. You will need admin access to do this. Once saved, any template using the Type defect custom field will be updated and you should be able to select your new type.

I have attached a screenshot of the edit screen.
