SoapUI Pro, LoadUI Pro, ServiceV Pro: New Names, One Brand … ReadyAPI

Hello Community!

Today we’re launching new names for some of our most popular API products. This is part of refreshing our outlook on the API space and our subsequent API lifecycle tools. We loved our old names, and know many felt the same. And yet, here we are to explain why we decided the progression was necessary.

Firstly, it’s not change for the sake of change. Yes, change is inevitable and something we should all embrace (although it seems like we’ve done enough of that in 2020); but that’s not a good enough reason to rename beloved products.

We feel a good reason to change a product name is that it’s not doing the job you want it to do  and because a simpler, more distinctive evolution of it could do that job better.

As an example, look at SoapUI Pro. We’re more than just SOAP protocols. We support REST, GraphQL, MQTT, and more …but you might not have known that by just looking at the name. We’ll continue our SOAP heritage by supporting SOAP protocols and ensuring the open source tool continues to be named SoapUI, but SoapUI Pro has evolved into so much more than a SOAP tool. And we figured aligning it under ReadyAPI is a good start.

The old names also did the integrative nature of the tools a disservice. SoapUI Pro, LoadUI Pro, and ServiceV Pro do not live in their own lanes. They integrate with one another. For example, with LoadUI Pro – excuse me, ReadyAPI Performance 🙂 – you can reuse your functional API tests built within ReadyAPI Test as load testing workloads.

Or you can virtualize external APIs that don’t handle load tests via ReadyAPI Virtualization and test them via ReadAPI Performance. SmartBear delivers these capabilities in the ReadyAPI platform to make the process of comprehensive API testing as seamless as possible. It was time the name of these three tools reflected that.

Over the next few months, you’ll see ReadyAPI messaging align around the integrative and flexible nature of our tools: on the website, in advertising, and in the product itself. We’re sure it will take some time for us to catch all the instances of the old names on the internet, but we’ll try our best to update everything accordingly. We’re excited about this more consistent direction, and we’re excited about what the future holds for ReadyAPI.

So to recap:

SoapUI Pro is now ReadyAPI Test

LoadUI Pro is now ReadyAPI Performance

ServiceV Pro is now ReadyAPI Virtualization

Three tools powerful alone, but even better when used together.

Till next time – Happy Testing,

\The ReadyAPI Team
