How do I create a report on test cases showing who created them?

I'd like to run a report on our test cases that groups them by who created them so that we can better align which folder they are in (based on the area of the product that person is most likely working on).

The reports, when exporter, do show who created a test case, but I can't find a report that shows me ALL of the test cases.   Is there a way to report on Test Case "created by" - and filter by person?

I've tried various exports of lists of test cases, but I can't define which fields to show and it doesn't export the name of the person who created.

I've checked out some of the reports, but they don't actually export a list of every single test case in our repository.

thanks!

    Hi,

You may have an answer already but this may benefit others in the future.  The likely reason why your reports do not show all test cases is because the reports you are running are for test executions.  Zephyr only creates a test execution record for test cases when they are added to a test cycle, so my guess is that not all your test cases are assigned to a test cycle.

As we don't have the ability in the Cloud version of Zephyr to write reports on the test library, we can't produce the report you're after, but you can achieve the same by using the test execution reports (if all test cases are assigned to a test cycle), or you could try the API.

I hope that helps, but if you're still not getting what you need let me know?

      Hi MisterB,

Thanks for your response and workaround.

How sure are you about your statement "As we don't have the ability in the Cloud version of Zephyr to write reports on the test library"? Can you double check and confirm please?

Also, can you please confirm which edition (cloud or non-cloud) has the capability to generate dashboards/reports at test case level (not test cycle level)?

        Hi Pramod,

I'll clarify my statement about test library reporting.  All reports are currently Execution reports which means we cannot report on the test library if a Test Case is not in a Test Cycle.  So when I said we don't have the ability to write reports on the test library, I mean we cannot run reports that use the test library as the source of data, because all reports currently use test executions as the source of data.

I am not certain, but when I used the Server/DC version of Zephyr some years ago, it had test library and issue reporting that is not available in the Cloud version.

    Hi Smartbear Community and Support,

I am writing with a similar query regarding "Zephyr - Test Management and Automation for Jira," which is likely to be the new edition of "Zephyr Scale."

Before defining the test cycles in a project, I need to create dashboards and/or reports for test case statistics, not test cycle or plan statistics. These test case statistics are crucial in determining the scope and effort required for a project.

    • Number of Test Cases by owner/responsibilities
    • Number of Test Cases by folder/subfolder and by priority
    • Number of Test Cases by review status
    • Number of Test Cases by customized field(s) (example: Team responsible for testing, pre/postproduction testing etc.)
    • Number of Test Cases by key folder and by priority
      etc.

I have attempted to generate these statistics using Dashboard Gadgets, Reports in Zephyr, and the Filter Feature, but have encountered several limitations.

    Dashboard Gadgets in JIRA

    • We have access to 21 pre-defined test dashboard gadgets in Jira, all related to "Test Execution." Unfortunately, none allow the creation of dashboards related to test case statistics.
    • Additionally, we have access to over 30 pre-defined, non-testing-related dashboard gadgets based on "Jira Issue Types." However, since test cases written in Zephyr are not "Jira Issue Types," these gadgets are not useful for creating the necessary statistics.
      Reports in Zephyr

    Reports in Zephyr

There are 31 reports available in both company-managed and project-managed Jira/Zephyr environments, all focused on "test execution" and "traceability with issues." None of these reports provide test case design statistics, such as counts of owner, review status, component, and filters using custom fields.

    Filter Feature

I have tried using the filter feature to extract test case statistics without success. This feature is part of Jira and works solely with "Jira Issue Types," rendering it ineffective for generating the required test case statistics.

    Request to Community and Support:

    • I am seeking guidance on how to create dashboards or reports (graphs or tables) using existing (not API or add on tools) features/settings to present "Test Case Statistics" in real-time before creating any test cycles and plans.
    • This fundamental feature is essential for any Test Management Tool, and I am hopeful it is available in the standard Jira/Zephyr package and can be activated by the Jira Administrator.

I look forward to a prompt solution.
