Flash testing on TestComplete 7

Hi,

I have created automation scripts on several web applications already but this is my first time to test flash application. I usually do the hard code however, I have a problem of determining the flash objects.

I tried to do the use the Flash Injection approach but I have a problem. I can't seem to use the FlashSetting objects in TestComplete after I installed the Flash Player debugger version. Also, I can't find the file FlashInjector.swf.

By the way, I'm using TestComplete Version 7.52.678.7. I'm wondering if the Flash Injection approach is applicable only on version 9 of TestComplete.

Please see my video: http://screencast.com/t/N9YOHws5r

Hope someone could help me on this.

Any assistance or help will be greatly appreciated.

Thank You So Much,

Gladys :)

  • Hi Gladys,

There are only two ways to test Flex apps in TestComplete 7:

     1. By using the MSAA technology.

     2. Via the Flex Automation ID. The app should be prepared in a special way in this case. Please refer to the "Preparing Flex Applications for Testing" local help topic (press F1 in TestComplete or select Help | Index in TestComplete's main menu).

As TestComplete v. 7 is an obsolete product version, you will face some limitation, for example:

     - TC 7 supports testing of Flex apps only in IE v. 6-8, Firefox 1.5-3.5;

     - it's unlikely that you will be able to create cross-browser testing.

I suggest that you consider upgrading to TestComplete 9.

    Hi Tanya,

Thank you so much for your reply!

I'm exploring now the trial version of TestComplete 9 and how to use it on flash objects.

    Again, thank you!

    Gladys Mae :)
