It sounds like you’re running into the same first-step confusion many of us hit when we download SoapUI for the first time. With version 3.0.1, the sample project should load smoothly, but it often fails if the installation didn’t finish properly or if the workspace folder wasn’t created. Try reinstalling SoapUI cleanly yes, another download, but it helps, then launch it and import the sample project again exactly as shown in the tutorial. Also make sure you’re opening the .xml sample file from within SoapUI instead of double-clicking it from your file system.
