Re: Can't find Description.tc.log
Ok, I found the real cause. Windows has a file path length limit: "In the Windows API (with some exceptions discussed in the following paragraphs), the maximum length for a path isMAX_PATH, which is defined as 260 characters." from:http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/aa365247(v=vs.85).aspx So TestComplete could save the path via relative path in the configuration files, but when executing various read/write operations on specific files Windows would silently error and then TestComplete would throw the error that it can't find the Description.tcLog file. I figured I would post a real solution after this ocurred to a coworker of mine.1.7KViews1like0CommentsRe: Object Spy objects that are hidden?
I have used both methods before. The problem is when you want to "search" around. Then you get errors because the dropdown has closed by then and TestComplete is trying to refresh on a destroyed object. Just curious though. So far I haven't had to spend too much extra time with those types of objects. :)733Views0likes0CommentsObject Spy objects that are hidden?
Has anyone found a solution to searching, in depth, objects like dropdowns? The problem I have is that only the way to find details hidden deeper in the object tree is by doing a Log.Message(object.item.item.xxx). That can take a lot of time if you are not searching for something specific, or don't know the exact name of a property. It sure would be nice if there was a way to tell TestComplete to cache data for all sub-objects when using the Object Spy. That way, even though the data might be a little bit stale, you can get a better idea of what kind of structure that object has. I'm sure this has been talked about before, but I couldn't find it. If you have a link, that would be nice as well. Thanks4.3KViews0likes3CommentsRe: TestComplete is not detecting a file change
So, I ran into this issue again, but this time the file was open for edit. I didn't get the icon in the Project Explorer or the reload option in the file's context menu. Again, the solution is to reopen the project, since reloading that file itself removes any linkage between it and the project.910Views0likes0CommentsRe: TestComplete is not detecting a file change
Looks like this isn't a bug. I have found a correlation between having the file open for edit in TestComplete and whether or not I get the "script changed pop-up". If I don't have the file open for edit, then I don't get the pop-up.912Views0likes0CommentsTestComplete is not detecting a file change
I have many script units shared across multiple projects, and when I make a change on a machine, I expect the change to propagate across all instances of TestComplete that are accessing that file. Unfortunately, out of the 3 test environments that I have with TestComplete (9.2), one of them does not auto-detect the change in the script unit. In order for me to see the change on that machine, I must reload the TestComplete project. The environment is not extremely different, but just testing different parts of the same software, so I don't expect that to be the issue. I have tried the normal troubleshooting things like "magic-reboots" and I scoured the Options/Settings without any luck. Is this a bug, or is there a way to re-enable to ability for TestComplete to detect when a script unit been changed remotely?8.9KViews0likes6CommentsRe: TC9.1: The object invoked has disconnected from its clients.
I am on TC 9.2 and am getting this error. The weird thing that I noticed though is that only some of the window's attributes are giving this error. Many of the other attributes like ClrClassName and others are displaying the correct information. Has this been confirmed as fixed in 9.2, or "thought" fixed? Thanks.2.3KViews0likes0Comments
